Alexis is a high school art educator and ceramic artist living in SE Minnesota. She began her ceramic practice in 2019, developing throwing and hand building skills, sgraffito surface design techniques and experimenting with alternative firing techniques. Alexis currently works out of her home based studio and focuses on naked raku, horse-hair and feather raku, glazed raku and sgraffito. For the last 2 years she has also been developing a body of work that incorporates encaustic medium with smoke fired vessels. Since she grew up riding and showing horses, Alexis professes a special connection to her horse hair raku pottery.
